Stefano Dinner Update

Last Friday Stefano hosted the dinner at his home. A few comments from our guests:

“It was truly a wonderful evening and experience. I can tell you it will be impossible to ever go to an Italian restaurant again... they set the bar pretty high.”

“This was truly an enjoyable evening and I would definitely bid for it next year should the opportunity arise. Thanks to Stefano and Alyssa for welcoming us into their homes and providing this wonderful experience.”

Stefano said there were a couple of crowd-favorite wines and cheese. Here they are:

LaTur Italian cheese from the Piemonte region

Swedish honey: Svensk Honungsforadling ab Biodlarna

Brunello di Montalcino - La Gerla 2005

January Reading List

Stefano suggested the below book with the caveat that he has not read the book: just the principles.

Recommended by Chris Porter (M.S. MIT Alumni, 2010) and contains a provocative critique of the concept of "running IT as a business"
Run IT as a business -- why that's a train wreck waiting to happen

"IT's job is to recommend better ways to operate, using technical capabilities business managers might not even know are possible.

These enlightened companies don't have IT projects -- they have business change projects that aren't done until the planned business change has been accomplished, and users are trained, not in how to operate software, but in how to do their redesigned jobs using the new software."
